Traditional clothes
The first Macedonian folk costumes appeared in villages at the end of the 15th century.
Usually clothes existed in two versions: weekday clothes and formal clothes.
Traditional clothes reveal various information about the person who wears it:
• from which area the person is
• social status in the community
• marital status (single, married, widowed)
• display of mourning for a deceased person
• occasion (weddings, holidays, etc.)

According to the content and choreography, Macedonian folk games, songs and music can be ritualistic and secular.

Secular dances

From the ritual games we will list: Dodol, Lazar, Koledar, Rusal and others.
Secular games include those related to the life and work of our people, such as: combat, wedding, harvest, love, humor and others.
Macedonian dances are numerous and diverse. In different regions they have different names, depending on the place and the way of playing. Their names are derived from region names, personal names, animals, instruments, type of dance, posture, and rhythm. The dances are usually performed during religious holidays in front of churches, schools, villages and homes.

tambourine, ut.
